Troubleshoot Firefox’s “Performing TLS Handshake” Message

Performing a TLS handshake is a very annoying problem. I experienced this problem few days ago. When I activate the Smartphone hotspot to access internet on my desktop, I always can't access the internet. Even though the writing on the laptop taskbar wifi icon is written connected (internet access). But repeatedly I tried to access, the internet still could not open site in my Firefox browser.

If you experience this problem, there is a text that “performing a TLS handshake blah blah” in the bottom left side of the Mozilla browser. Like the picture below!

Another feature is that you can't access the internet in all browsers (I've tried it). Starting from google chrome, IE, Microsoft edge, and UC browser still can't access the internet. But when my laptop connects to the wifi network there is no problem, and when I browsing directly through the smartphone is also smooth. The point is the problem only appears when I connect my laptop with a smartphone WIFI.

I am very confused when experiencing this problem, because internet activities like blogging, tasks etc. I always rely on GSM card hotspots from smartphones. Some of the methods I've tried, such as deleting stored wifi networks, changing proxies, even had time to think desperately to reinstall the laptop.

Actually there is already one article that explains this problem (which in my opinion is good). Even then, after I read the comments, many did not succeed in solving the problem of performing a TLS handshake error. But from all comments there was one person who managed to fix it. That the cause is Avast Antivirus that installed on his laptop

From there I finally thought "maybe my problem is also caused by an antivirus?" But how come I didn't install Avast? Just as the antivirus information that I installed is ESET Internet Security. However, I remain suspicious of this antivirus, because of its always blocking traffic which he thinks is problematic. Out of curiosity, I finally turned off the antivirus, and my guess was right! After I deactivate I can access the internet via a hotspot as before..

So the way I solve the problem of performing a TLS handshake error is to turn off the antivirus. If you experience the same problem with me, try checking whether there is a third party antivirus on the laptop? Internet antivirus, both Avast, Eset, Avira and AVG can trigger this problem.

That is article about how to troubleshoot the “performing errors of a TLS handshake on Mozilla Firefox” that cannot access the internet may be useful.
